About the Course
Despite individual and federal efforts to curb drug abuse, healthcare professionals care for patients who have drug problems every day. This course will offer information that may help the provider to understand the drug crisis in America, as well as providing strategies to help healthcare professionals deal with individuals struggling with addiction.
Learning Objectives
Kelly A Crum PhD(c), MSN, RN, is a professor and interim director of the Division of Nursing at Bob Jones University. Most recently, Crum served as the director of the School of Nursing at Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown, WI. Crum earned a BS in nursing (1990) from Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, FL. She has an MS in nursing (1995) with a focus in maternal, child nursing, curriculum development, and nursing education from the University of South Alabama and postmaster’s coursework in women’s health nurse practitioner (1999). Crum is currently pursuing a doctor of philosophy in nursing (ABD) from the University of Phoenix focusing on the nursing student’s experience with international service learning. Previously, Crum has served as an instructional specialist in the Health Sciences and Nursing Department at the University of Phoenix Online and as a certified advanced facilitator. Crum has also served as nursing faculty at Pensacola Christian College and Piedmont International University in Winston Salem, NC. Crum has worked as a staff nursing in a variety of medical units at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC; St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, WV; King’s Daughter’s Medical Center in Ashland, KY; and Sacred Heart Hospital and West Florida Regional Medical Center in Pensacola, FL. She served as the assistant director of nursing and director of staff development at America Putnam Nursing Home in Charleston, WV.
