- Aftercare - Extending a Helping Hand All Year Round, 2nd edition 1Course Release date: 7/10/2023
This basic-level course will enable the funeral professional to provide a range of aftercare services to their clients. The aftercare program involves more than just sending the family a thank-you card. Aftercare offers a myriad of services: Helping the family complete forms where the funeral home takes no direct interest, for example, nonassigned insurance and/or military benefit forms, calling to check up on the family to see how they are doing, and even having events through the year like a Christmas memorial program. These services help the family to continue to celebrate their loved one’s life and help the bereaved to move forward. Each funeral home offers a different set of aftercare services for its customers based on the needs of the community it serves; therefore, using the correct services creates an effective aftercare program. Even though aftercare does not directly affect the bottom line financially, it will increase business in the long run if done correctly. - HIV/AIDS and Other Bloodborne Pathogens for Funeral Professionals_1 hour 1
Course release date - 7/10/2023
About the Course:
Microorganisms carried in the blood that can cause disease are called bloodborne pathogens. Various types of microorganisms can be transmitted through contact with blood, but this course will focus primarily on human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)—the cause of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS)—and the virus that causes hepatitis B (HBV). These two diseases are specifically addressed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. The course will also touch on hepatitis C virus (HCV), which has dramatically increased in the United States. Of the bloodborne pathogens, funeral professionals are most likely to be exposed to HIV, HBV, and HCV (Davidson & Benjamin, 2006). - Infectious Disease Control for Funeral Professionals 4

When a member of law enforcement, fire service, or emergency medical service is killed in the line of duty, the tragic loss is felt by the family, the professional family, and the community who was served. The funeral service for a person killed in action or in the line of duty can be more detailed and complex than other funeral arrangements. This course is designed to aid funeral directors in understanding many of the honors and traditions used in these types of services. The content of this course will include the origin and symbolism of many funeral honors observed, discuss the detailed planning required to properly arrange these types of services, and serve in preparing directors to serve the ones affected by Military and Line of Duty Deaths.
- Modern Restorative Arts and Embalming Techniques, 2nd Edition 3Release Date: 1/8/2024
About the Course:
This course is an intermediate course that is designed to provide some updated information on the new trends and advanced procedures for embalming, restorative art, and burial in the funeral profession. Let’s face the fact that much of the funeral industry has been stuck in the past with limited exposure to advancement and ideas of modern modalities to create a better environment. The past has been passed on for generations and what has been done has been passed on from one generation to another with limited training on the new advances and what could be done. With every changing world and new blood coming into the funeral industry, we start to see these ideas coming up, but still hold habits that are hard to break to introduce these new technological advances. This course isn’t created to force these ideas on you, but to share what is available and to better share what might be working and what might not to better help you grow in this era.
