Suicide – Supporting Survivors

About the Course:
This course focuses on assisting funeral directors with supporting survivors of suicide. It presents information regarding the uniqueness of suicide grief and the role and actions of funeral directors.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to:
  • Explain why death by suicide is different from other types of deaths
  • Describe the feelings of suicide survivors
  • Identify the role of funeral directors in supporting suicide survivors
  • List ways that a funeral director can create a healing experience for suicide survivors
  • Recognize situational complications concerning suicide
