New mothers need care and nurturing after they give birth. Postpartum healing, breastfeeding, carrying a baby, minimal sleep, hormonal changes, their bodies go through a LOT!  Massage is a great way to help a new mother's body recover after birth and adjust to her new, challenging lifestyle.
As a mother herself, the instructor is passionate about supporting new mothers.  That's why this course, unlike many other maternity courses, is dedicated to postpartum mothers and their unique physical and emotional needs.  She will teach you how to alleviate their most common postural and muscular discomforts, such as abdominal and pelvic pain and sore shoulders from carrying car seats or frequent breastfeeding. You will also explore postpartum traditions in other cultures and how to integrate them into your practice.
The massage skills that you take away from this course can be life-changing for new mothers, from accelerating the physical healing process to reducing postpartum depression.
Students should bring a massage table, headrest cover, a set of sheets, a breast drape and lotion.
