The practices of yoga, meditation and tai chi are powerful tools of leverage and self-care for any massage therapist. By engaging in these practices, you can gain a greater understanding of proper body mechanics and how to preserve your own health and wellness, which can enhance your effectiveness as a therapist.
The practice of yoga is growing all over the world. In the U.S. alone, the number of people practicing yoga has nearly doubled in the last four years*. In this course, you will discover yoga's profound history, and learn yoga postures that increase flexibility and stamina, which are crucial for maintaining proper body mechanics.
Meditation is absolutely essential for maintaining psychological health and well-being. It calms the mind, enhances learning capabilities, magnifies concentration powers and improves overall biological efficiency, allowing therapists to comfortably and effectively handle high volumes of massage work.
With his extensive background in martial arts, your instructor will also teach the principles of tai chi, and how to use balance, position and leverage to avoid repetitive motion injury and allow comfortable delivery of substantial pressure to clients.
Students will walk away with empowering techniques to improve their overall stamina, and knowledge to help them better serve - and attract - the growing number of yoga practitioners and holistic health-minded individuals.
Students should wear comfortable athletic clothes, and bring a yoga mat and water.
