About the Course
Human trafficking is a $150 billion per year business. This 2-hour video course focuses on the incidence and prevalence of human trafficking in the United States including the $99 billion in profits from sex trafficking alone. Research has verified that there is a gap in knowledge for healthcare providers on issues relating to human trafficking. This course addresses those concerns. There is also information about who is at risk for human trafficking, how you can tell if someone is a victim, the legal requirements if a trafficked individual is identified, and the resources available that can help victims.
Learning Outcomes
Upon the completion of this course, the learner should be able to:
- Explain varied populations at high risk, the traffickers, how it happens, and why it happens.
- Describe signs and symptoms associated with human trafficking.
- Implement an organized plan that follows mandated reporting requirements and focuses on helping victims.
- Identify current resources or the patient who may be a victim of human trafficking.
