Healthcare leaders are asked to evaluate new services, products, and processes to determine not only improved patient outcomes but also the value to the financial health of the organization. Tools necessary for this task are not often taught in traditional healthcare education. This course will discuss financial planning concepts, break-even analysis, development of a planning checklist and the presentation of the plan. After attending this session, the participant will have the knowledge to evaluate new service lines and products that improve patient care and the health of the organization.

Learning Outcomes

- Identify fixed, variable, and total costs.
- Distinguish what expenses and revenue should be considered in developing a ROI.
- Evaluate and choose which departments should be involved in new product/procedure discussions to ensure smooth transition to practice.
About the Presenter
Pamela Hunt BS, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, is an experienced nurse executive with a demonstrated history of working in operations and the dissemination of information and education. Ms. Hunt is skilled in Quality, Safety, Caregiver Engagement, Healthcare Finance, especially productivity, and Patient Experience and has extensive experience working in community organizations to promote the health and wellbeing of all people. Ms. Hunt is also a national and international presenter and an author on topics of healthcare leadership.
