- Illustrate the steps to take to ensure safe and effective prescribing of controlled substances used for treatment of pain and substance use disorder, including professional documentation, patient-provider agreements, and informed consent.
- Distinguish between the concepts of substance misuse, substance use disorder, and diversion, including their recognition, risk factors, and prevention.
- Examine the laws pertaining to the prescribing of controlled substances, including the federal medication schedules, federal prescription-filling rules, federal registration requirements, and Nevada-specific rules.
