About the Course:
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a third of all adult Americans report some issue with sleep, thus the number of adults who are affected by sleep disorders in the United States is a significant portion of the population (CDC, 2020). Sleep apnea and other sleep issues can lead to cardiovascular disease (CVD), obesity, and other problems. Untreated or poorly treated sleep disorders can exacerbate chronic medical conditions such as diabetes and hypertension (ASAA, 2020). This course provides a basic understanding of the assessment of sleep disorders, presenting the pathophysiology of common sleep disorders and how to recognize, diagnosis, and treat these disorders found in adults.
