- Common Envenomations: Snakes, Lizards, Marine Life and Arthropods 3
Course release date: 7/10/2023
About the Course
Many people use venomous and poisonous interchangeably, but there are significant differences. Venoms are endogenously produced by the animal and actively introduced into the victim through a wound created by a fang, stinger, pincer, or spike. The clinical scenarios in which these occur are referred to as envenomations or envenomings. This course will focus exclusively on the most clinically relevant terrestrial and marine venomous animals native to the U.S., including vertebrates (e.g., snakes, lizards, and fishes) and invertebrates (e.g., cnidarians and arthropods). Common myths will be dispelled, and learners will be provided with evidence-based treatment guidelines.
- Common Geriatric Syndromes in the Older Adult 8Course release date: 7/10/2023
About the Course
The baby boomers have come of age, society is graying, and there is expected to be an explosion of our oldest, the geriatric population. Older patients may have multiple issues caused by normal aging changes and have an increase in deficits caused by the effects of chronic disease. Care for this older population involves identifying deficits, diagnosing geriatric syndromes and chronic diseases, preventing further decline, and fulfilling our senior citizens' unique needs.Preview this course before you buy: Click to view the CE course eBook

- Recognizing and Mitigating Implicit Biases in Healthcare 2
Course release date: 9/26/2023
About the Course
Health disparities arise from various factors, and researchers have pinpointed unconscious biases that shape clinicians' perceptions, influencing decisions and exacerbating health inequalities. Implicit biases, usually negative and unintentional, result in disparities in patient–provider interactions, treatment choices, and overall healthcare access. The implementation of implicit bias training aims to underscore for healthcare providers a modifiable risk factor linked to the causation of health disparities.
- The Essentials of Infection Prevention 4
Course release date: 7/10/2023
About the Course
The COVID-19 pandemic made all healthcare workers acutely aware of infection prevention and control measures. The pandemic has highlighted the need for ongoing education to maintain a knowledge and skill level appropriate for implementing strategies to prevent healthcare-associated infections and to prepare for the next pandemic. This course will examine best practices for infection prevention, such as hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, transmission-based precautions, cleaning and disinfection, and injection safety
