Flexibility, Bands and Balance Strategies for the Healthcare Professional

About the Course:
This video course expounds on the evidenced-based research and intervention techniques with resistive bands, flexibility treatment, and balance strategies for the healthcare professional to improve all aspects of patient care. The hands-on treatment techniques and interventions discussed herein can be used immediately and in all clinical settings. The scientific basis and clinical research of resistive, sensorimotor, and stabilization training and progression for patients of all levels is reviewed. Effective documentation strategies for payor reimbursement are also reviewed. At the end of this course, the healthcare professional will be able to integrate stretch bands, resistive bands, and balance trainers into treatment strategies from pediatric to geriatric populations.

Course Objectives:
At the end of this course the participant will be able to:
  1. Identify components of a functional exercise program
  2. Identify the biomechanical principles of elastic resistance by showing the relevance to patient positioning and utilization
  3. Identify what proper positioning of patient allows
  4. Identify treatment strategies utilizing resistive band for impairments of posture, joint mobility, ROM/muscle length, sensory/reflex integrity, motor function, balance/gait, muscular performance, function and aerobic capacity
  5. Identify sources of flexibility, soft tissue mobility, and interventions-skin, superficial fascia, muscle, deep fascia, muscle stretching, joint range of motion, bone and cartilage
  6. Recognize the appropriate exercises using the stretch band and the indications for use of the stretch band
  7. Identify the 3 areas of proprioception and the clinical progression of balance and stabilization training
  8. Identify the levels of functional stability
  9. Identify what is included in a vicious cycle of instability
  10. Select the steps of sensorimotor training
  11. Identify progression for sensorimotor training
  12. Identify stages and importance of sensorimotor training and progression
  13. Identify the advantages and disadvantages of stabilization training
  14. Recognize how to document services delivered for evidenced-based results
