About the Course:
This course is for all pharmacists and pharmacist technicians with a need to better understand direct oral anticoagulants and the conditions that are best treated with these medications.

Upon completion of this course, the pharmacist and pharmacy technician should be able to:
Brittany Reed, PharmD is a critical care pharmacist currently practicing in the neuroscience intensive care unit. She attended West Virginia University for pharmacy school, where she graduated in 2014. Thereafter, she completed two years of residency, a PGY1 in pharmacy practice and a PGY2 in critical care. Both residency years were completed at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV. Professionally, she is also board certified in both pharmacotherapy and critical care.

Upon completion of this course, the pharmacist and pharmacy technician should be able to:
- Describe indications of use for direct oral anticoagulants.
- Select the appropriate drug dose for patients started on a direct oral anticoagulant.
- Recommend appropriate direct oral anticoagulant therapy based on patient characteristics.
- Choose the most appropriate oral anticoagulant for patients in special populations.
- Evaluate patient cases to recommend appropriate therapy for bleeding management for patients taking direct oral anticoagulants.

- A minimum test score of 75 percent is needed to obtain a credit.
