
Meets the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs requirement for implicit bias training.
Beginning on June 1, 2022, and for every renewal thereafter, an applicant for license or registration renewal must have completed a minimum of 1 hour of implicit bias training for each year of the applicant's license or registration cycle.
About the Course
This interactive 1-hour implicit bias training provides historical context of race and its relationship to the development of racial implicit bias. Following the presentation will be a Q&A session with a national expert in bias training. You will be presented with a self-assessment to gauge your understanding of the topic before and after the training, and will have the opportunity to ask the presenter questions.
Important Information

Course Objectives
- Identify the concept of implicit bias.
- Select examples of the type of implicit bias.
- Recognize the conscious effect of implicit bias on real live patients.
- Locate ways to increase self-awareness by reflection on case study

About the Author
Benjamin D. Reese, Jr., PsyD ,has more than 50 years’ experience in implicit bias training with focus in the fields of systemic and structural racism as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy. He has a doctorate in clinical psychology from Rutgers University, Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology.
Currently, Dr. Reese is clinical psychologist and president of BenReese, LLC., a North Carolina based global diversity, equity, and inclusion consulting firm. He is also adjunct professor in the department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Duke University School of Medicine and Advisor, Trainer, and Executive Coach for Diversity Science, a diversity, equity, and inclusion public-benefit company.
