About the Course
Increasing amounts of research and data support that obesity is a complex metabolic condition intersecting with myriad medical, physical, and psychologic consequences. This widespread effect on health and healthcare has heralded new diagnostic terminology: adiposity-based chronic disease or ABCD, to encompass a spectrum of consequences. Members of the interprofessional healthcare team should be aware of how the entire clinical and personal picture of an individual patient is affected by ABCD to best engage in comprehensive and collaborative methods for management.

About the Authors
Sandra is a board-certified nurse practitioner and has specialized in obesity treatment since 2005. She owns Integrative Medical Weight Management, in Seattle, Washington and holds the Certificate of Advanced Education in Obesity Medicine from the Obesity Medicine Association. She serves as a trustee on the Obesity Medicine Association Board of Trustees. 
Ms. Christensen speaks on the topic of obesity at international, national, state, and local conferences and webinars and is involved in projects and initiatives that educate clinicians about obesity treatment and advocate for access to care. She is an Associate Editor of Obesity Pillars, the journal of the Obesity Medicine Association, and is a contributing author of the OMA Obesity Algorithm. She writes on the topic of obesity and is the author of a book that educates clinicians about how to discuss obesity with patients.

Dawn Yoon, MD
Dawn has more than 20 years of clinical experience as a Board-Certified Emergency Physician in Academic and Community settings. She is a Medical Educator in multiple settings; Medical Director, author and contributor for an online CME company, as well as didactic, hands-on and bedside education of physicians, residents and medical students. Dr. Yoon has also authored and contributed to original research, case reports, as well as topic review articles on a wide range of subjects. Target educational audiences have ranged from the physician specialist, to the highly diverse inter-professional audience, and post-graduate level students. Dr. Yoon’s key accomplishments include developing and implementing an Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Program and contributing to the successful application for Joint Accreditation Status from ACCME, ACPE, and ANCC.
