These techniques have the added benefit of reducing wear and tear on the therapist’s body by respecting their ecology of movement.
Active release is a non-invasive soft tissue method that separates fascial adhesions and clears trigger points. The Active Release & Deep Tissue Techniques Course will discuss the guidelines, benefits and techniques of Active release/deep tissue work. This course is essential for any healthcare professional who performs manual therapy on patients/clients to help them attain a pain-free state. This course is approved by the Florida Board of Massage Therapy as a hands-on credit, relevant to and focused on massage therapy techniques, skills and protocols.
- Cognitive Screening for Dementia 4
Course release date: 7/8/2024
About the Course
This course is designed to provide an overview into aspects of the older adult population as a cohort, understanding of different types of dementias, and thorough insight into the different cognitive assessment tools. It should be noted that these assessment tools vary based on symptoms and input from patient caregivers, and they are not necessarily diagnostic tools; rather they are tools that can unveil potential signs and symptoms of dementia and prompt the need for additional testing and examination by trained healthcare professionals. Learners will be able to identify types of dementia and the need to discern how to treat the patient most effectively in a safe, dignified manner with appropriate support, if necessary. Other aspects of this course include insights into preventative care and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Differential Diagnosis for Hip and Lower Extremity 3
Release Date: 4/8/2024
About the Course
The purpose of this course is to delineate possible systemic and viscerogenic conditions that can refer pain to the hip and lower extremity with an emphasis on red and yellow flag warning. Important findings to consider when accurately diagnosing hip and lower extremity conditions is presented.? - Evaluation and Treatment of the Functional Squat: An Evidence-Based Approach 2
Course Release: 1/9/2024
About the course
This course is intended for physical therapists and athletic trainers who evaluate and treat clients with squat dysfunctions. This course discusses how to evaluate a proper squat and how to intervene when a movement dysfunction is present. This course takes an evidence-based approach to various squat interventions, including electromyographical studies, to determine optimal muscular activation during exercise. The course provides recommendations for exercise interventions that correlate to each squat deviation.
- Evidence-Based Balance Rehabilitation and Fall Prevention 6
Course release date: 4/8/2024
About the Course
This course is intended for physical therapy, occupational therapy and athletic training practitioners who address balance impairments and work to reduce falls in their patients and communities. This course defines balance and its components, describes how the various balance issues fall into these component categories and categorizes these impairments accordingly. It will outline how to assess balance and interpret the many varied assessment tools available. Taking this information, clinicians will see how to systematically approach balance rehabilitation, including how to prioritize needs, account for patient background and resources, and work towards long term falls reduction. Finally, this course discusses current guidelines for community level fall prevention strategies and how therapists can be more involved with this process.
- Move Better, Feel Better: A Movement-Based Approach to Soft Tissue Mobilization for the Lower Body 5
About the Course
If you want to learn how a combination of soft tissue treatments can help your clients to feel and move better: this course is for you.
This evidence based approach, combines IASTM, Cupping and Kinesiology Taping by focusing on how we can stimulate the Central Nervous System (CNS) to reduce pain and enhance mobility. This comprehensive treatment philosophy is movement-focused we don’t treat the individual muscle, or the fascia, or the joints, but we make overall movement of the affected body part more efficient to allow the body to heal and to become more resilient: “Move Better, Feel Better”
Take your Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) -techniques to the next level by incorporating movement. Understand how Cupping Therapy (CT) is different than all other manual techniques, and how it supports healing, and recovery. Learn how Kinesiology Taping (KT) is used to influence the fascia and underlying neural tissues to cause functional changes in both the local tissue as well as the Central Nervous System (CNS). KT is the ideal complement to soft tissue treatments like IASTM and Cupping.
Understanding how pain works and being able to educate your clients on how to manage their pain is critical to patient outcomes. This course uses principles of the BPS model and Pain Scienced Education as a roadmap to make your treatments even more effective. This treatment approach does not just look at the area of pain, but considers the entire person, and treats the entire dynamic chain that is affected.
