71

Course Overview
As the US population becomes increasingly multicultural and telehealth extends services into remote areas, there is a pronounced need for therapists to become adept at the delivery of culturally appropriate care. This course offers insight for therapists to not only self-reflect on their own biases, but also uses a case study format of real-life examples in the therapeutic arena. It also offers evidence-based strategies to overcome everyday barriers promoted by the acts of racial microaggressions applicable to patients and practitioners.

Learning Outcomes
Upon the completion of this course, the learner should be able to:

  • Identify distinctions between the following key terms: cultural competency, cultural humility, racial microaggressions, and ethnocentrism.
  • Recognize the differences among the three types of microaggressions.
