About the Course:
The purpose of this activity is to provide physicians with information
regarding optimal evidence-based care for patients with cognitive
impairments related to Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). The activity describes the definitions, differential diagnosis, and risk factors for AD and other forms of dementia, provides guidance on screening and evaluation, and summarizes current evidence for both non-pharmacological and pharmacological management of cognitive impairment.

Learning Objectives:
Completion of this course will better enable the course participant to:
  • Differentiate characteristics of cognitive decline associated with AD versus normal age-related memory loss and decline and apply appropriate diagnostic strategies.
  • Identify potential risk factors for AD along with factors which may exacerbate the disease.
  • Discuss effective non-pharmacologic strategies for patient management.
  • Discuss effective pharmacologic strategies for patient management..
