About the Course:
The purpose of this activity is to provide clinicians with strategies for screening, assessing, and responding to patients who may be victims or perpetrators of intimate partner violence. The activity also details the scope and prevalence of IPV, techniques for addressing potential barriers to care, and instruction on providing appropriate information and resources to patients when IPV is suspected.

Learning Objectives:
Completion of this course will better enable the course participant to:
  • Describe three examples of health outcomes that can be caused by, or exacerbated by, IPV.
  • Describe two screening tools for identifying potential victims of IPV.
  • Identify three patient interviewing techniques of potential value in situations involving suspected IPV.
  • Describe the key elements of a safety plan for survivors of IPV.
