Sunquest to Demonstrate Innovative Diagnostic Information Solutions at HIMSS 2011

Sunquest Information Systems® will demonstrate its innovative new software solutions at booth # 6171 at the HIMSS 2011 conference (Feb. 20-24) in Orlando, FL. Sunquest will be showcasing its new Sunquest CoPathPlus™ anatomic pathology specimen management and tracking solution, the new web connectivity Sunquest Physician Portal™ outreach order and results solution as well as Diagnostic Intelligence, the only business intelligence solution dedicated to laboratory operations.

In addition, Sunquest will be participating in the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase, a venue for healthcare providers to learn the benefits of transmitting electronic health information seamlessly from application to application across multiple healthcare solutions. Sunquest will be demonstrating the communication of lab results to the CDC for cancer registration and the management and communication of orders and results for anatomic pathology studies.

“Sunquest’s participation demonstrates the importance of effectively communicating accurate, reliable laboratory results to care providers who need the information to make informed health care decisions,” says Richard Atkin, president and chief executive officer of Sunquest Information Systems.

Sunquest CoPathPlus™ is a new and innovative anatomic pathology specimen management and tracking solution designed specifically to automate the complexities associated with managing anatomic pathology specimens. Featuring advanced integration with digital imaging, Sunquest CoPathPlus is designed to function as a virtual “pathologist’s cockpit” for improved productivity and performance. The solution enables more efficient and accurate specimen analysis, enhanced speed to diagnosis and, ultimately, improved patient outcomes.

The Sunquest Physician Portal™ delivers meaningful connectivity to community-based physicians who refer patients to a laboratory’s outreach and outpatient radiology services. It is part of Sunquest’s overall Outreach Advantage suite of solutions, giving laboratories the tools they need to enable them to compete effectively with national providers for outreach revenue.

With Physician Portal, doctors can electronically enter orders and view results for diagnostic laboratory and radiology tests. The system is fully integrated with Microsoft HealthVault so results can be sent electronically directly to the patient’s HealthVault record.

According to Atkin, “Sunquest Physician Portal provides a web-based, highly intuitive and easy way for physicians to submit laboratory test orders and view results electronically. This meets several of the meaningful use criteria spelled out in The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), helping them more easily [meet] the criteria necessary to be eligible for Medicare and Medicaid incentive payments.”
