About the Course
As health care providers, Respiratory Therapists are exposed to a variety of patients from pediatric to seniors. In many cases, RTs are asked to provide supplemental oxygen to them and are expected to be able to make recommendations for improving the patient care scenario. The goal of this webinar is to provide the knowledge to confidently make suggestions to the ordering physician on some of the basic oxygen delivery systems currently available today. 

Learning Objectives: 
After completing this course, the learner will be able to: 
  • Be able to discuss a variety of O2 delivery devices 
  • Become comfortable with bedside management of these devices 
  • Recognize the differences in various oxygen delivery methods
  • Understand basic principles used in the delivery of oxygen 
  • Determine pulse oximetry probe placement 
  • Understand the storage and proper handling of oxygen tanks 
About the Author: 
James C. Woods, III is a Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner with 38 years of experience, including. experience at an adult community hospital in MO, Osteopathic hospital in Ohio, East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, and Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. James has recruited for Nationwide Children’s Hospital PICU team and tasked with developing and enhancing the role of the respiratory therapists in the ICU.
