About the Course
Now more than ever, it is important that healthcare professionals be prepared to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) throughout the lifespan. ADHD is no longer seen as a childhood disorder and it is likely that many adults affected by ADHD are undiagnosed. This intermediate-level course has been developed to educate healthcare professionals, such as nurses, social workers, counselors, psychologists, and marriage and family therapists, and to bring clarity and a deeper understanding to the research, diagnosis, and treatment of ADHD in individuals of all ages and various life stages.

About the Authors
Simona Pozzetto, LICSW was born and raised in Italy, where she obtained her bachelor's degree in Psychology. After moving to Massachusetts, Ms. Pozzetto achieved her MSW and completed the Certificate Program in Jewish Communal and Clinical Social Work at Simmons College and Hebrew College in 2003. Ms. Pozzetto worked in community mental health clinics and long-term care facilities as a clinical therapist, initially focusing on children and adolescents, then mostly on adults and the elderly. In 2014, Ms. Pozzetto obtained her LICSW, and after a few years in management, in 2020, opened a private practice. During her career Ms. Pozzetto has specialized in trauma work, dissociative disorders, mood disorders, and end of life issues. In June 2021, Ms. Pozzetto obtained her Certified Grief Informed Professional (CGP) Certification.      

Adrianne E. Avillion, D.Ed, RN is an accomplished nursing professional development specialist and healthcare author. She earned a doctoral degree in adult education and an MS in nursing from Penn State University, and a BSN from Bloomsburg University. Dr. Avillion has held a variety of nursing positions as a staff nurse in critical care, physical medicine, and rehabilitation settings, as well as numerous leadership roles in professional development. She has published extensively and is a frequent presenter at conferences and conventions devoted to the specialty of continuing education and nursing professional development. Dr. Avillion owns and is the CEO of Strategic Nursing Professional Development, a business that specializes in continuing education for healthcare professionals and consulting services in nursing professional development.

  • Answer the final examination questions at the end of the course. A passing grade of 75% is required. Test questions link content to learning objectives as a method to enhance individualized learning and material retention.
