About the Course:
The course will introduce veterinarians to the world of veterinary dentistry that includes the basics of a good oral exam, and how to record the findings in a standardized way.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to:
- Explain the shortfalls and risks of non-anesthetic or anesthesia free dentals
- Name each tooth based on the modified Triadan system
- Identify basic and common dental abnormalities encountered in general practice
- Construct a well detailed dental chart, including but not limited to occlusion, gingivitis, teeth absence, gingival pockets, presence of mobile teeth, and any other detected abnormalities
About the Author
Dr. Eric Weiner, DVM is a third-generation veterinarian. Dr. Weiner graduated from Hofstra University with a B.A. in biology and a double minor in biochemistry and music. He started his vet school career at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts and transferred to Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine after first year and graduated in 2015. During his clinical year, at the Penn Vet Working Dog Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he worked with search and rescue dogs, diabetic alert dogs, police dogs, and even cancer detection dogs. During his time there, he helped develop a warmup protocol for the working dogs to help prevent the dogs from suffering strains and sprains. His experience includes both small privately owned and large corporately owned clinics. He strives to provide the highest level of care to his patients and do his best to overcome any obstacle, financial or otherwise.
