Medical errors are estimated to be the third leading cause of death in the United States (Kim et al., 2020). Thus, medical errors remain a major focus for nursing care. This course reviews the prevalence of common medication errors, why they may occur, and interventions to help decrease the risk of these errors from occurring. Case Studies are included throughout to show real-life scenarios that can occur in any healthcare environment. The course meets minimum mandated requirements for Florida nursing licensure.
