Continuing Education Requirements for Nurses and License Renewal

Mandatory (Note: all valid mandatory reporter training certificates issued prior to July 1, 2019 remain effective for 5 years).The law maintains that every mandatoryreporter must complete 2 hours of training within six months of employment orself-employment, unless otherwise specified by federal regulations, andrequires one hour of additional training every 3 years.

Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse 2 CE 

Identification and Reporting of Dependent Adult Abuse 2 CE

Must be a state-approved course

All mandatory reporters are required to take the core (2-hour)training initially, but will be allowed to take a one hour recertificationtraining every three years thereafter so long as they do so prior to thethree-year expiration period.

Mandatory Subjects:

Identification and Reporting of Child/Dependent Adult Abuse - 2 contact hours every 5 years. Must be a state-approved course.
