Mandatory Subjects:
A Course on Human Trafficking every 2 year renewal period approved by HHSC.
Older Adult/Geriatric Care – 2 contact hours every 2-year renewal period if you work with older adults.
Texas Nursing Jurisprudence and Ethics – 2 contact hours every third 2-year renewal period.
Additional requirement for Emergency Department APNs:
Forensic Evidence Collection – 2 contact hours; 1-time requirement.
Additional requirements for APNs with prescriptive authority (for a total of 24 contact hours):
Pharmacotherapeutics – 5 contact hours every 2-year renewal period.
Prescribing Controlled Substances – 3 contact hours every 2-year renewal period.
Contact hours not required, but recommended:
Tick-borne diseases, diagnosis and treatment
