What’s required for a Maryland physical therapy license renewal?
The Maryland Department of Health Board of Physical Therapy Examiners requires physical therapy professionals to complete continuing education hours as part of the Maryland physical therapy license renewal process.
- Licensed physical therapists must complete 30 hours CE every two years
- Licensed physical therapy assistants must complete 20 hours of CE every two years
There is no limit to the number of hours licensees can complete online. Both PTs and PTAs must complete their CE hours no later than March 31, 2024.
How do I renew my physical therapy license in Maryland?
The Maryland State Board will open an online renewal portal for all Maryland physical therapy licensees on Thursday, March 14, 2024. This portal will NOT be accessible before the 14th. You can check the Board’s site for updates.
The Board does not permit paper applications. The Board will only accept electronic renewal applications. To ensure your license renewal application is on time, make sure to submit it by Friday, May 24, 2024.
