About the Course
The vast majority, of commonly reoccurring headaches are of muscular origin. Current research will be presented, using a full-color power-point presentation on trigger point development and referred pain patterns, showing the contribution of an active TP to the typical headache experience. This course will itemize all muscles that contribute a referred pain pattern to the head, face, and jaw. Trigger Point development will be explained and demonstrated using a 3D model of a sarcomere, the contractile unit of a muscle. Migraine headaches will receive special attention and, also what differentiates a migraine from any other type of headache. Each muscle has its own unique and documented pain pattern. Multiple, active TP’s at the same time can produce wide ranging and sometimes overlapping symptoms. Treatment protocols will be demonstrated. After this class, each attendee will be able to specialize in the treatment of muscular related headaches for a more successful office practice.

Cupping Therapy is different than all other manual techniques, with or without instruments. The negative pressure produced during cupping therapy offers a distraction to the tissues allowing for increased blood flow and lymph drainage, improved movement and overall tissue healing & recovery. This stands in contrast to the shearing that is present with muscle stretching and all other myofascial treatments. Despite its popularity, there has traditionally been a gap in the literature for the appropriate dosage, timing, and frequency for the proper application of cupping for musculoskeletal problems.
During this (live) web-based course you will gain an in depth understanding on how to increase or regress the intensity of cupping and therefore making it easier to program this treatment appropriately. The demonstrations will show you various tools for cupping and you will view general treatment strategies to apply cupping both static and dynamically. From Cervico-Thoracic to lower leg, ankle and foot you will take a step by step approach and learn the most effective ways to combine patient movement and cupping techniques. You can expect to leave with the confidence and knowledge needed to develop cupping session for your patient based on your assessment and the individual needs of your patient.

About the Course
The Central Nervous System (CNS) is our communication network, one that can change and adapt at any age, and it is imperative to address impairments, lifestyle, and somatosensory factors for optimal neural reprogramming. We need to reprogram the CNS for complete functional restoration, optimal performance, and most importantly, injury prevention. The brain’s control center is dependent on the proper input. When dysfunction exists, the CNS receives poor proprioceptive input and accesses inefficient information. By addressing the dysfunctional movement at their root in the motor control center, where the patterns are stored, we can truly enhance motor learning and optimize client outcomes. Furthermore, a scientific and systematic approach to retraining the nervous system encompassing appropriate corrective strategies and sound movement-based training will contribute to fast and effective changes in motor control. Most conditions that lead to musculoskeletal pain tend to be overuse syndromes. These overuse syndromes can be frustrating to both the patient and clinician. Many of these overuse syndromes develop because of poor and compensatory movement patterns.
This course instructs 5 movement screens assessing the neuromyofascial network to identify compensatory patterns and areas of altered joint mechanics. About the Course
Should pain science education be a hands-off approach? Some believe because there is limited research supporting the use of manual therapy, there is no need for hands-on treatment.
However, manual therapy is a great pain management technique, especially if applied with a bio- psycho-social approach. This course explains how manual therapy and pain science education are not mutually exclusive, but rather, are a great complement to each other. Three different classifications of pain are discussed as well as how manual therapy can be incorporated to treat these types of patient presentations. Understanding what type of pain is most dominant for your patient will direct your treatment plan.

So many people suffer from painful muscle trigger points as the result of stress, tension, and injury. The pain interferes with everyday activities and results in mobility impairments and participation limitations. Understand the nature of trigger points, (TPs) and how abnormal neurophysiological reflexes contribute to painful muscle tension and mobility impairments. Positional release (PRT) interventions modify abnormal reflexes to relax and release painful muscle tension, improving flexibility, strength, and function. Identify specific positions to manage TPs throughout the body, and objectively improve function and mobility. Discuss the research on the effectiveness of positional release techniques for pain reduction, strength and flexibility improvement, and performance enhancement.

Many chronic wounds are the result of chronic inflammation. The lymphatic system is charged with processing inflammation. Why can’t or won’t the system do its job? And how do we, as manual therapists, tackle the edema and scar tissue? The Scars and Inflammation course will take a look at the wound healing process and the most recent research that stretches across several disciplines to give us the critical thinking wisdom to create a sound, client centered plan of treatment.
