Texas Cosmetology Continuing Education Requirements
CE Requirements for Cosmetologists, Estheticians, and Nail Technicians

Timed Requirement
- These courses are all timed which requires 50 minutes of seat-time per CE hour
- A licensee who is at least 65 years old and has held a cosmetology license for at least 15 years is required to complete 1 hour of continuing education in sanitation. Courses must be TDLR-approved courses.
Additional information for licenses held 15+ years
A licensee who has held a practitioner license for at least 15 years may satisfy the continuing education requirement for renewal by completing department-approved courses as follows:
- for renewals before September 1, 2025, one hour of sanitation; or
- for renewals on or after September 1, 2025
- one hour of sanitation; and
- one hour of human trafficking prevention.
