About the Course
Pelvic pain can be a chronic, debilitating condition that is affecting an ever increasing number of individuals. Individuals often have numerous imaging studies that are considered normal and do not contribute to their treatment. Current medical treatment involves prescription pain relievers, injections and surgeries that often offer little if any improvement in symptoms. This course is designed to educate the practicing clinician on how to rule out suspected medical red flags. The clinician will then learn researched based evaluation techniques to identify not only the presence of sacroiliac joint dysfunction but the specific dysfunction of the 10 common presentations. Tissue specific impairments will then be addressed with a variety of manual therapy techniques including instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, muscle energy techniques, and joint manipulations.

Through poor posturing and overuse of the upper extremity, a variety of painful conditions can develop leading to local pain in the shoulder but contributing to cervical and lumbar spine pain as well. Patients often are treated for months with passive modalities and exercise with minimal change in symptoms. This course introduces manual evaluation techniques of the connective tissue surrounding the shoulder complex. About the Course
Core stability is the new trend in the Rehab and Sports Industry but what is the actual core according to the new evidence? What are the anatomical integrations of muscle, fascia, neural and the emotional components that are involved in efficient trunk stability? Why are our patients tight, stiff or collapsing? This seminar is heavily evidence based on the latest studies of the trunk, core, global muscle group and the intimate association of the respiratory system. Being able to differentiate proper core facilitation from global muscle overuse is essential in accurate core training.
The Thorax is the center of trunk rotation and is important in transferring loads from the lower extremities and upper extremities through the various regions of the spine. It is a prime base for muscle and fascial connections that affect the cervical and lumbo/pelvic regions. The diaphragm within the Thorax, functions in posture and respiration. It’s intimate connections, muscularly and neurologically with the lumbar spine, abdominals and pelvic floor and its ability to maintain intra abdominal pressure, are vital for spinal stability. Discover how to evaluate short, toned global muscles and weak deep core muscles. Learn to lengthen these excessively overused muscles. Be trained to facilitate the deep core and blend it with the global system for a strong dual system to allow our patients to stand correctly against gravity, our biggest adversary. Our patients must have a good foundation, good form, good function and ultimately enjoyment in their activities of life. “Foundation, Form and Function” will be an adjunct for any spinal health and stabilization platform. It is possible that these patients are suffering from myofascial dysfunction, which cannot be detected by MRIs, xrays or standard methods of examination. In such cases, myofascial pain is best diagnosed by an experienced manual therapy practioner, someone familiar in the use of motion testing and postural analysis. This course uses in depth demonstrative video, as well as detailed images for enhanced learning to ensure therapists learn to identify functions, structures and biomechanics of fascia. Therapists are taught technique concepts, special tests, and objective measures in the treatment of myofascial pain as well as indications and contraindications/precautions for myofascial release. Topics also covered include skin glides, skin rolling, crosshand and laminar releases, muscle play, traction circular and Z-friction as well as acupuncture meridians.

Most conditions that lead to musculoskeletal pain tend to be overuse syndromes. These overuse syndromes can be frustrating to both the patient and clinician. Many of these overuse syndromes develop because of poor and compensatory movement patterns.
This course instructs 5 movement screens assessing the neuromyofascial network to identify compensatory patterns and areas of altered joint mechanics. Once the area of dysfunction has been identified, joint specific evaluation techniques are introduced to determine tissue specific impairments designed to guide future treatment.

The vast majority, of commonly reoccurring headaches are of muscular origin. Current research will be presented, using a full-color power-point presentation on trigger point development and referred pain patterns, showing the contribution of an active TP to the typical headache experience. This course will itemize all muscles that contribute a referred pain pattern to the head, face, and jaw. Trigger Point development will be explained and demonstrated using a 3D model of a sarcomere, the contractile unit of a muscle. Migraine headaches will receive special attention and, also what differentiates a migraine from any other type of headache. Each muscle has its own unique and documented pain pattern. Multiple, active TP’s at the same time can produce wide ranging and sometimes overlapping symptoms. Treatment protocols will be demonstrated. After this class, each attendee will be able to specialize in the treatment of muscular related headaches for a more successful office practice.

Cupping Therapy is different than all other manual techniques, with or without instruments. The negative pressure produced during cupping therapy offers a distraction to the tissues allowing for increased blood flow and lymph drainage, improved movement and overall tissue healing & recovery. This stands in contrast to the shearing that is present with muscle stretching and all other myofascial treatments. Despite its popularity, there has traditionally been a gap in the literature for the appropriate dosage, timing, and frequency for the proper application of cupping for musculoskeletal problems.
