Practice-Based or Conditional Requirements

Pain Management and Opioid Use CE (DEA Registrants)
Alaska licensees who hold a valid DEA registration must complete a minimum of 2 hours of Category 1 CME in pain management and opioid use and addiction every 2 years. Licensees without a current DEA registration whose practice does not include pain management or opioid treatment/prescribing may be exempt.

Course option: Responsible and Effective Opioid Prescribing

DEA-registered practitioners, except those who are solely veterinarians, must complete an 8-hour training on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders. This applies one time to DEA registrations or renewals submitted on or after June 27, 2023.
