Infectious Disease
Connecticut MDs and DOs must complete at least 1 hour on infectious disease, including HIV/AIDS, once every 6 years.

Course option: HIV/AIDS Update for Clinicians

Risk Management
At least 1 hour on risk management, which may include prescribing controlled substances and pain management, once every 6 years.

Course option: Medical Errors and the United States Healthcare System

Sexual Assault
At least 1 hour on sexual assault, once every 6 years.

Domestic Violence
At least 1 hour on domestic violence, once every 6 years.

Cultural Competency

Two hours in behavioral health (suicide prevention, or diagnosing/treating cognitive conditions or veteran-related mental health conditions), at first renewal and at least once every 6 years thereafter.

Controlled Substance Prescribing and Pain Management
Connecticut PAs must complete 1 hour on prescribing controlled substances and pain management every 2 years.

Course option: Responsible and Effective Opioid Prescribing

PTSD, Suicide, and Grief Screening
For registration periods starting on or after January 1, 2022, PAs must complete 2 hours on screening for PTSD, risk of suicide, depression and grief, and suicide prevention, at first renewal and at least once every 6 years thereafter.

Note: This training must be administered by the AAPA (or its successor organization), a hospital or licensed healthcare institution, or a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
