Connecticut MDs and DOs must complete at least 1 hour on infectious disease, including HIV/AIDS, once every 6 years.

Risk Management
At least 1 hour on risk management, which may include prescribing controlled substances and pain management, once every 6 years.

Sexual Assault
At least 1 hour on sexual assault, once every 6 years.

At least 1 hour on domestic violence, once every 6 years.

Cultural Competency
At least 1 hour on cultural competency, including systemic racism, explicit and implicit bias, racial disparities, and the experiences of transgender and gender-diverse persons, once every 6 years.

Behavioral Health
Two hours in behavioral health (suicide prevention, or diagnosing/treating cognitive conditions or veteran-related mental health conditions), at first renewal and at least once every 6 years thereafter.

Federal Requirements
DEA MATE Act Requirement
DEA-registered practitioners, except those who are solely veterinarians, must complete an 8-hour training on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders. This applies one time to DEA registrations or renewals submitted on or after June 27, 2023.
