Renewal CE Requirements

Osteopathic Physicians
Utah DOs must complete 40 hours every renewal period, 34 of which must be Category 1 as established by the AOA or ACCME.

Practice-Based or Conditional Requirements

Suicide Prevention Training (Primary Care Providers)
Primary care providers must complete a free, Utah DOPL-approved online suicide prevention training video.

Controlled Substances Prescribing
Controlled substance prescribers must complete 3.5 hours of Utah-approved CE on controlled substances prescribing, plus 0.5 hours of the DOPL online controlled substance database tutorial, every renewal period. Beginning with licensing periods starting after January 1, 2024, prescribers must also complete 3.5 hours of SBIRT training on controlled substances prescribing, one time.

Note: These requirements call for Utah-specific and REMS-compliant content; licensees should confirm current course options directly with the Board.
