Understanding ALS: Advances in Diagnosis, Treatment, and Patient Care
Course Overview
This course is designed to improve nursing knowledge and strategies for managing ALS and supporting caregivers. By enhancing nurse competencies in these areas, the course aims to improve care coordination, reduce caregiver distress, and ultimately contribute to higher quality of life for both patients and families affected by ALS.
Learning Outcomes
Upon the completion of this course, the learner should be able to:
- Understand the biology and progression of ALS
- Recognize early symptoms and diagnostic processes
- Identify current treatment options and emerging therapies
- Promote and providing emotional and physical support for patients and caregivers
- Interpret the role of advocacy and research for ALS
