Course Overview
This advanced embalming course is designed and intended to improve the skills and knowledge base of practicing licensed funeral professionals. The cause, manner, and age at death vastly differ within individual cases, and thus special attention must be brought to each situation. This course focuses on the less common techniques applied in cases where an embalming is specialized in the manner of care and preparation.

Learning Outcomes
Upon the completion of this course, the learner should be able to:

  • Define advanced embalming and distinguish between natural and artificial means of preservation.
  • Identify the chemical components of embalming fluids and their roles in achieving proper preservation.
  • Recognize special body conditions and apply appropriate treatment protocols.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in embalming difficult and traumatic cases, including those involving edema, decomposition, tissue recovery, and long bone preservation.
  • Apply specialized embalming techniques to less common cases such as severe trauma, infant, and autopsy preparations.
