Here's what you need to renew your Illinois Behavioral Health : Counselor license

Mandatory hours:

  • One (1) hour in Sexual Harassment prevention
  • One (1) hour in Implicit Bias awareness
  • One (1) hour of Alzheimer and other dementias
  • One (1) hour of Mandated Reporter

All clinical professional counselors are required to complete 18 hours in clinical supervision training of the 30 continuing education hours required. This is a one-time (lifetime) requirement.

  • 1 hour - Alzheimer's Disease and other dementias (once every 3 renewal periods)
  • 9 hours - Clinical Supervision Training (LCPCs only, 2nd renewal only)

Additional Requirement for Renewal:

  • 1 hour - Mandated Reporter Training, within 3 months of initial licensure and at least every 3 years thereafter: DCFS provided course
