Diabetic Hypoglycemia 5
5
Course release date: 3/1/2026
Course Overview
The occurrence of hypoglycemia can be traumatic for the patient as well as the healthcare professional caring for them. Hypoglycemia is significantly problematic for people with diabetes. Patients experience short-term effects and, in some cases, long-term adverse results. Startlingly, it is not uncommon for the individual to have a lack of warning of the hypoglycemic episode. With this in mind, a strong understanding of the pathophysiology, assessment, and treatment is needed for healthcare professionals caring for this population. Early recognition and understanding of the cause of this complication is imperative for appropriate treatment, prevention, and reduced adverse outcomes. Healthcare professionals are increasingly required to do more with less, and solid evaluation and assessment skills are vital to safe practice in the home, long-term care, and acute care settings. -

Child Abuse: Identification and Intervention 6
Course release date: 4/8/2024
About the Course:
For many healthcare providers working with the pediatric population, encountering a child that is being abused is almost guaranteed. Unfortunately, not all providers are well prepared to identify, handle, and support the child and family when it does occur. As mandatory reporters, they must be able to respond to these situations appropriately and safely to protect the child’s well-being. They should be familiar with the most common types of abuse, signs of such abuse, and interventions to take once it is identified. This CE module provides this background to improve a healthcare provider’s care of a pediatric patient suspected of being the victim of child abuse. - Anxiety Disorders in Older Adults 3 1

Mental Health Issues Common to Veterans and Their Families 2
Course release date: 08/31/2026
Course Overview
The effects of deployment to military combat on the individual and the family system are wide-reaching and can be severe. Military personnel may confront numerous potentially traumatizing experiences, including military-specific events and those experienced by civilians. Research suggests the most common traumatic events experienced during active duty are witnessing someone badly injured or killed or unexpectedly seeing a dead body. These exposures can have a serious impact on veteran mental health, with higher rates of PTSD, depression, suicide, and intermittent explosive disorders than the general public. These effects extend to the family, with increased risks for domestic violence, divorce, and child abuse. Including screening items to identify veterans and their families and improve the care provided. In addition, steps should be taken to refer or treat these patients using evidence-based interventions with proven efficacy for veterans.
