About the Course 
This course is intended for Cosmetologists and Barber Stylists working within the beauty industry. It discusses the practice of haircare, with a focus on repairing damaged hair. The subject matter content of this class includes the orientation of haircare, the evolution of human hair, the chemical composition of hair, and repairing damaged hair. The course supports the CE needs of stylists by providing valuable information about how to maintain healthy hair, treat hair disorders and diseases, and service hair that has lost its luster.

Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to: 

  • Identify and distinguish the structures of the hair strand and hair root.
  • Identify and explain the chemical composition of hair.
  • Describe and name the hair growth phases.
  • List and explain the characteristics of hair.
  • Identify and explain hair wave patterns.
  • List and explain disorders of the hair.
  • Demonstrate and perform a more comprehensive analysis of the client’s hair and scalp. 
  • Identify damaging or damaged conditions of the hair and scalp.
  • Explain and demonstrate hair treatment services.
     

About the Author/Presenter 
Lisa Lavarion, is a technical school instructor with over 24 years of experience as a beauty school educator. Her expertise in the field of cosmetology is unparalleled, as she has not only taught but also authored many continuing education courses as a subject matter expert. Her academic journey includes a Master’s in the Science of Psychology and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Lisa has also shared her insights and wisdom through her two spiritual books, “Moments of Intimacy” and “Let’s Talk About Sex,” available on Amazon Kindle. Lisa's true passion lies in educating others and helping students grow and develop their talents and skills into successful careers. In her spare time, she loves to take long walks, sit on the beach, and watch movies with her grandkids.
