Mandated courses are only If qualified for expanded dental functions. These expanded functions have designated topics & are as follows. - Dentists who administer anesthesia, deep sedation or conscious sedation who do not hold an Anesthesia Unrestricted or Restricted Permit I are required to complete 5 hours of anesthesia related courses in accordance with the Board's Regulations . --- The 15 hours of CE required to maintain the Anesthesia Unrestricted or Restricted Permit I and the 5 hours of CE required for dentists who do not hold the Unrestricted or Restricted Permit I who practice in an office where other individuals administer general anesthesia, deep sedation or conscious sedation can be applied to the total hrs req of 30 hrs. Certification can be applied to total 20hrs req.

NEW! DEA MATE ACT:
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.

2 hours - Pain management, the identification of addiction or the practices of prescribing or dispensing of opioids.*

*PERSONS WHO MUST COMPLETE THE OPIOID CE

Individuals who have a current DEA registration, and
Individuals who do not have a current DEA registration, but who utilize the DEA registration number of another person or entity, as permitted by law, to prescribe controlled substances in any manner
