Why is there a timer in my course?

Some states have a regulatory requirement called a “seat timer.” What this means is they want for you to have been an active participant in the course for the approved number of credit hours before Elite will be able to issue or submit proof of completion for the course.  The time you must sit in the course is based on the state’s requirement. Example: TX cosmetology requires 50 minutes for every hour, so for a 3 hour course you must have an active time of 2 1/2 hours.

Elite will not assess a seat timer requirement in a course unless it is required by your state’s licensing agency. Most states do not have this requirement.
