About the Course
This course reviews the general anatomy of the cardiovascular system and the circulatory schemes. Learners will gain foundational knowledge of the most common chronic cardiovascular diseases and associated symptoms. In understanding the cardiovascular system- learners will understand appropriate ways to educate their patients on the implications of diet and other lifestyle factors have on cardiac health.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to:
- Identify the various circulation schemes and the general anatomy of the cardiovascular system.
- Define the measures of cardiac function and of the heart’s electrical control mechanism.
- Recognize the most common cardiovascular symptoms and chronic conditions.
- Identify implications of diet and other lifestyle factors on cardiac health.
About the Author
Jim Menz MS, CES, began his teaching career in 2001 in Delaware. He created curriculum for personal training and massage courses at vocational schools before earning his master’s degree and teaching at the college level. Jim has traveled the country presenting continuing education for allied health professionals and is the author of “Heart Great Training: The Personal Trainer’s Guide to the Cardiovascular System.” Jim serves as the chair of Health Sciences at Missouri Valley College.
