Course Overview
This course provides healthcare workers with essential knowledge on fungal infections and other common skin conditions, focusing on their physiology, identification, and management. This course explores the clinical presentation of candidiasis, dermatophytosis, and other infectious agents, as well as viruses that can contribute to secondary skin infections. The course emphasizes evidence-based approaches, treatment strategies, and infection control measures to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Learning Outcomes 
Upon the completion of this course, the learner should be able to:

  • Define the importance and interactions of fungi to the animal kingdom.
  • Identify the signs of a drug-resistant fungal infection.
  • List the typical treatment for drug-resistant fungal infections.
  • List ways to mitigate the spread of drug-resistant fungal infections.
  • Explain the symptoms of common fungal infections.
  • Recognize when a skin infection may be due to COVID-19.

About the Author/Presenter 
John Vinacci, LMT, is graduate of Tucson, Arizona’s acclaimed Desert Institute of the Healing Arts. John has been practicing massage since 1999 using a variety of clinical techniques. Now, having been in the field for over two decades, John has a strong desire to help train the next generation of manual therapists as well as help educate all healthcare professionals.
