About the Course
This course will allow practitioners to competently and efficiently assess patients for common postural and gait disorders in a clinical setting. Clinicians will be able to identify functional limitations and impairments following a postural and gait assessment. To be more effective with their treatment approach, clinicians will implement hands-on, evidence-based treatment options to address the limitations found in their examination.
Learning Outcomes
Upon the completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Investigate common postural abnormalities
- Investigate common gait abnormalities
- Distinguish impairments, functional limitations, and occupational limitations based on assessments
- Outline treatment techniques & environmental modifications that address functional and occupational deficits
- Apply evidence-based treatment to target postural deficits
- Apply evidence-based treatment to target faulty gait mechanics
About the Presenter
Christine Lewis, DPT, OCS, MPTC, AIB-VR, is a senior clinic manager who has worked in the outpatient physical therapy setting for 11 years. Her passion lies in orthopedic practice, vestibular rehabilitation, and helping the geriatric population improve their function and quality of life. She obtained her Manual Therapy Certification and Orthopedic Specialty in 2017. She obtained her Vestibular Rehabilitation Certification in 2019. She applies her knowledge both daily in her clinic and by helping teach and develop others in her areas of specialty. She has prepared various online presentations using personal experience and up-to-date research to help others confidently evaluate and treat similar conditions. She has also been teaching courses in manual physical therapy since 2020. Her true passion lies in helping other clinicians better serve their patient population. Christine currently lives in Miami, Florida. In 2013, she obtained her doctorate in physical therapy from Utica College in New York. She has been an APTA member since 2009 and a member of the Orthopedic Section since 2012.
