About the Course
This course is intended for healthcare professionals who treat clients with low back pain. The course integrates the most recent research and clinical practice guidelines for low back pain. Participants will learn how to classify low back pain and which interventions are deemed most effective based on these classifications.
Learning Outcomes
Upon the completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Predict how a clinical practice guideline can be utilized to improve patient/client outcomes and occupational performance.
- Classify low back pain using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) model.
- Review the four intervention strategies to clients with low back pain as described in the CPGs: Exercise, Manual, Classification Systems, and Education.
- Relate each of the four intervention strategies through case studies of clients with low back pain.
About the Author/Presenter
Dr. Ryan Wadas, PT, DPT, earned his bachelor’s degree in human biology from the University of Kansas in 2005 and his doctorate degree in physical therapy in 2009 from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Wadas has over 12 years of outpatient orthopedic physical therapy (PT) experience, the majority of which he served as a clinical instructor working with PT and physical therapy assistant (PTA) students. He also has 9 years of experience in academics; Dr. Wadas is currently a professor at South University’s PTA program in Tampa, Florida, with 7 years as adjunct faculty at Nova Southeastern University’s DPT program in Clearwater, Florida. Dr. Wadas has advanced training and coursework in spinal manipulation through the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy (AAMT), the McKenzie Method to Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), vestibular therapy training, myofascial practitioner cupping certification, and selective functional movement assessment (SFMA).

- After completion of the course, complete the final examination. A passing grade of 75% is required. Test questions link content to learning outcomes as a method to enhance individualized learning and material retention.
