About the Course
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way healthcare practitioners function on a day-to-day basis, as well as provided unique challenges for aging adults in communities and residential care. This course will discuss the unique challenges to cognition that have been discovered through the pandemic, along with evidence-based treatment strategies to mitigate pandemic-related cognitive decline.

About the Author
Dr. Heape is a clinical educator for a large healthcare company, where she works with skilled nursing facilities in 4 states on documentation compliance, clinical education, and clinical program writing for PT, OT, and ST. She has authored numerous clinical programs with interprofessional teams. Dr. Heape is also an adjunct professor for 2 universities. She holds a doctor of clinical science degree in speech-language pathology and a post-doctoral certificate in healthcare education. Dr. Heape has presented to audiences around the world and in conferences across the United States, merging her love of clinical
education with her passion for helping persons with dementia. She has held multiple roles in 
both state and national level organizations and is a Fellow of the National Academies of Practice. She is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and Montessori Dementia Care Professional.
