Evidence-Based Knee Osteoarthritis Management for Therapy Professionals
Course Overview
This course is intended for therapy professionals who evaluate and treat patients with knee osteoarthritis. This course discusses the epidemiology, risk factors, and pathology of knee osteoarthritis. Participants will learn how to evaluate and provide effective interventions and prevention strategies for knee osteoarthritis using the most recent evidence-based practice. This course also discusses surgical and conservative treatment options for patients suffering from knee osteoarthritis.
Learning Outcomes
Upon the completion of this course, the learner should be able to:
- Analyze the anatomy, epidemiology, risk factors, and disease process of knee osteoarthritis.
- Assess the components of an evaluation for patients who have knee osteoarthritis.
- Outline the conservative treatment options and interventions clinicians can use to reduce symptoms and impairments associated with knee osteoarthritis.
- Analyze the surgical treatment options for patients who have knee osteoarthritis.
About the Author/Presenter
Dr. Ryan Wadas, PT, DPT earned his bachelor's degree in human biology from the University of Kansas and his Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Wadas has over 12 years of outpatient orthopedic PT experience, the majority of which he served as a clinical instructor working with PT and PTA students. He also has 11 years of experience in academics and is currently a professor at South University’s PTA program in Tampa, FL, with 7 years as adjunct faculty at Nova Southeastern University’s DPT program in Clearwater, FL. Dr. Wadas has advanced training and coursework in spinal manipulation through the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy (AAMT), the McKenzie Method to Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), vestibular therapy training, Myofascial Practitioner Cupping Certification, and Selective Functional Movement Assessment.
