Here's what you need to renew your New York Psychology license

The information below is a summary of the minimum requirements set forth by the New York State Education Department Office of the Professions. For a more detailed requirements breakdown, please see the board's site.

New York Psychology: Psychologist (Continuing Education)

Online Info

Beginning January 1, 2021 you must complete 1 hour of CE for each month of licensure until your next renewal.  For instance if  your license is due to renew February 2021 you must complete 1 hour of CE, March 2021 - 2 hours of CE, etc.  The table and information can be found at Rules link

Mandatory Subjects:

  • 2 hours  - Child Abuse Reporting**
  • 3 hours - Professional ethics, including the laws, rules and regulations for practice in New York State
  • 3 hours - Appropriate Professional Boundaries (for registration periods starting on or after April 1, 2023)

 

**New York Child Abuse courses do not count towards CE hours and may only be used to satisfy the New York mandatory training requirements.
