Occupational therapy professionals converge on New Orleans for yearly meeting
The American Occupational Therapy Association’s Annual Conference & Expo is scheduled for April 4-7 in New Orleans, LA. Interested professionals should make their reservations today to ensure their spot.
The 2019 AOTA Annual Conference & Expo features over 1,400 educational and poster sessions, exceptional speakers, and an Expo Hall filled with the latest products and opportunities. This Conference—the largest gathering of occupational therapy professionals in the world—is one of the highlights of the annual calendar in the OT world.
Up to 24 contact hours are available at this one event. The Welcome Ceremony and Keynote Address will feature Dr. Grace Dammann, a Bay-area physician whose car was hit head on by another driver as she crossed the Golden Gate Bridge. After awakening from a long coma with massive internal injuries and 17 fractures, she spent the next year in rehabilitation facilities. Grace will share how occupational therapy supported their journey of recovery, caregiving, and adjusting to life with a disability.
Outgoing AOTA President Amy J. Lamb, OTD, OT/L, FAOTA, will give her farewell address on Friday, April 5, in a speech entitled Be Bold: A Call to Action for Occupational Therapy.
Incoming President Wendy Hildenbrand, PhD, MPH, OTR/L, FAOTA, will share her inaugural address the following day entitled Let’s Start Here: Relationships, Resilience, Relevance.
