About the Course
The purpose of this education program is to present an introduction to cultural humility and offers tools for psychologists and mental healthcare professionals to use when working with diverse patients in a culturally humble manner.

- Describe dimensions of diversity in the United States (U.S.).
- Identify factors that can interfere with the counseling relationship between a clinician and clients of diverse cultural backgrounds, including issues related to oppression, privilege, and marginalization.
- Explain cultural humility as an essential part of counseling, including core components and key considerations.
- Describe the role of societal and institutional accountability within the counseling context.
- Differentiate cultural humility and multicultural competency.
- Illustrate the different elements of cultural humility.
- Examine the cultural variables that impact help-seeking.
About the Author
Dr. Jameca Woody Cooper is a Counseling psychologist, educator, entrepreneur, author, and civic leader. Dr. Jameca holds a master’s and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri Columbia. Her company, Emergence Psychological Services, has served the Saint Louis community for the past sixteen years. She is a Fulbright Fellow in Global Health and has been featured in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, CNBC, NBC, ABC news, WebMD, and USA Today.
