New York Counselors Continuing Education Requirements And License Renewal

Mandatory subjects:

• 2 hours - Child Abuse Reporting (one-time requirement)**
• 3 hours - Appropriate Professional Boundaries (for registration periods starting on or after April 1, 2023)

**New York Child Abuse courses do not count towards CE hours and may only be used to satisfy the New York mandatory training requirements.

Attention New York Healthcare Professionals: As of 2025, the mandated child abuse training must include content related to the impact of intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, adverse childhood experiences and trauma, implicit bias, and the identification of child abuse in a virtual setting.
