NEW! DEA MATE ACT:
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
Mandatory Subjects:
- Dentists must maintain current certification in infectious disease control as it relates to the dental office or to the practice of dentistry. Dentists must achieve a minimum of one (1) hour of Continuing Education in the subject of infectious disease control every two (2) years.
Additional Requirements:
- Dentists must achieve a minimum of one (1) hour of Continuing Education in the subject of prescribing controlled substances every two (2) years.
- Dentists who hold an Oral Conscious Sedation Permit must also complete a minimum of two (2) hours of Continuing Education in the subject of sedation and/or anesthesia every two (2) years.
Subject Limitations:
- The combined number of hours of continuing education training in the course areas of insurance, governmental regulations, and tort liability and/or risk management shall not exceed a total of four (4) hours for the annual renewal period.&nbs
